ABOUT THE RIKTON - TYPE 402
Meticulously engineered to harness the ever-changing properties of light, Rikton - Type 402 employs an innovative photochromic dual-lens construction for an unparalleled visual experience. The third in a triad of innovative concept frames for Spring 2018, Rikton - Type 402’s muscular style frame is the first to make use of a stacked flat-base lens system, consisting of an interior tinted lens and an exterior photochromic lens; as ultraviolet light conditions change, the interplay of color between the two creates a chameleon-like visual effect.
Whereas a standard single photochromic lens does not allow for a tinted lens experience, this lens system offers the best of both worlds: photochromic+color. Informed by adaptive reaction to light in the natural world, the Rikton - Type 402 is DITA’s first concept deploying two lenses into a single frame.
Achieving this feat required extraordinary precision at the design level: Rikton - Type 402’s titanium chassis contains slots for both lenses, as well as a small titanium spacer to resist friction, dust, and scratching; a tonal bridge bar containing the temples is then affixed over the top of the frame, securing its components in place. Exquisite details, from custom titanium nose pads to sculpted acetate temple tips, offer uncompromising comfort and style for the most discerning eyewear enthusiasts.
